Rugged, High Performance, Transportable Storage Servers

TINTON FALLS, NJ, April 20, 2007––Storage Engine, Inc., a leading provider of fault tolerant enterprise data storage and document imaging solutions, today announced a new data storage product designed to meet the needs of large data storage users for their data systems at transitory locations.  Driven by a large user of broadcast data, Storage Engine has introduced the Road Runner to the Synchronix family of data storage products as a rugged, high performance storage server appliance for NAS or storage virtualization requirements.

The storage server appliances feature the latest in high performance system boards and processors, high speed SATA or SAS RAID functionality, high performance solid state Operating System disks, and options for provisioning block or file data using iSCSI, NAS (TOE 1GbE) and FC protocol support.

Road Runners offer high speed transport options such as 10GbE, 4Gb FC, InfiniBand, or Myrinet®.  Storage Engine provides 10GbE networking solutions to all major operating systems: OSX, Windows, IRIX, Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, AIX and others.

The Road Runner has a mil-spec shipping case that also functions as the rack, and includes a KVM (keyboard, video display, mouse) for the storage server, and comes in two form factors:

1.     The 1U appliance has 3 x 1TB hot swappable drives for data transfer purposes, and is designed to attach to an external SATA, SAS or SSD enclosure. This 3U 16 bay enclosure currently supports up to 1TB 7200 RPM SATA II drives, and up to 15K RPM 300GB SAS drives, as well as 64GB or 128GB Solid State Flash drives, for the ultimate in flexibility for performance and ruggedness and capacity.

2.     The 3U appliance features an integrated internal LTO-3 tape drive, and has 12 drive bays and supports up to 1TB 7200 RPM SATA II drives, and up to 15K RPM 300GB SAS drives, as well as 64GB or 128GB Solid State Flash drives, for the ultimate in flexibility for performance and ruggedness and capacity.

These are transportable via commercial carriers and provides for up to 3 mediums of data interchange to facilitate moving large volumes of data to and from the appliance.  The SX-Road Runner joins the expanding Synchronix family of high performance data storage technology that the Company has been deploying to Enterprise and Government accounts of all size for the safe keeping of their data at a cost savings.
